I never knew what 'The Golden Girls' were about until I purchased the first season with a risk, but in the end it turned out that I enjoyed watching it and still am. This a great series and funny too. It's worty every penny.

Another winning season from my favorite Golden Girls. It is a rare show that can move beyond great comedic timing and brilliant jokes to actually focus on poinient issues while still being funny and this is personified in two the seasons earliest episodes "Old Friends" where Sophia meets an African-American man inflicted with Alzheimer's Disease and they strike up a touching, although sad friendship. Another episode "Letter to Gorbachev" where Rose writes a letter to Soviet Premier Gorbachev and he wants to meet with her thinking that she's an eleven year old girl. Beneath the air of hilarity, there was the real sobering reality that maybe the world would end and we wouldn't see adulthood. Beyond the real world issues though, are some of the funniest episodes of the series like "Grab That Dough" where the girls get money hungry and go on a cheesy California game show as friendships and bloodlines go out the window. "Mister Terrific"-Rose dates a children's television superhero, and Blanche's Little Girl-where Blanche meets her heavy-set daughters verbally abusive girlfriend.

I've always been a huge fan of them sicne I was growing up. I needed this to finish my collection of the DVD set. Estelle Getty & Bea Arthur are in my thoughts! We can still laugh at all re-runs on WE & Lifetime.

I am very pleased with the DVD I received. Now I can watch my favorite show anytime I want. I'm amazed how fast it came in the mail. It came in perfect condition! I would certainly buy any other product from Amazon. And the prices...much cheaper than any local bookstore. Thank you. Sincerely, Elba.
