Don"t buy from Break_TimeJun 25, 2010 I ordered the Fourth Series of Doctor Who on May 23rd,2010', I haven't received my purchase as of yet and it is now June 25th,2010. I have sent several emails to this company and they don't respond to any of them. I even have notify Amazon and have yet to hear from them too. I have never had any problem with Amazon and am now wondering what is going on with my purchase. My honest opinion is not to order anything from Break_Time, it's a waste of money, you'll never see product or your money back again, cause NO ONE well respond to your problem, not even Amazon.!
The Doctor/Donna-the best pairing yetJun 09, 2010 Although I loved the relationship between the Doctor and Rose, Donna is by far my favorite companion of the new Dr. Who series. Donna is truly a friend to the Doctor. Their characters bring out the best in each other and the actors have a definite chemistry. The end of their association was even more heart-wrenching than Rose being cast into the parallel world. David Tennant is absolutely fantastic as the Doctor. The actors and the writers have done an awesome job reviving the Doctor Who series.
Welcome Season 4May 18, 2010 I've been a Doctor WHO fan for a few decades now and throughly enjoyed the series.
Doctor Who is the bestMay 05, 2010 This series keeps getting better with some outstanding stories, interesting people, and some twists that make the good Doctor a bit more mysterious. Well directed, acted, filmed, a most enjoyable experience.
Doctor Who Season 4--The Noble CauseMay 05, 2010
Let me start an argument by saying this...that of the three full-time Companions in the first four-part chapter of the 21st century adventures of Doctor Who, that Catherine Tate's Donna Noble was the best Companion for the Doctor. I can hear the Billie Piper fans screaming about my heresy and the Freema Agyeman supporters wondering if I've lost my marbles (And I LOVED Freema, so I wonder about this myself), but of the three, Donna grew the most as a character/person between her introduction in "The Runaway Bride" and "Journey's End".
When we first met Donna, she was an abrasive, shrewish loudmouth, incredibly unaware of the world around her and clearly unaware of the world of The Doctor. The only thing she could do was talk--LOUDLY--and pretty much defined herself by whether or not she got married. But the potential for Donna was illuminated at the end of the Season 3 Christmas Special when, in turning down The Doctor's offer to join him, did observe that he needed someone to rein him in. I always felt that the reason Donna was as she was--and this was something that Tate captured brilliantly--was that, at her core, Donna's yelling masked a very insecure nature in her; a lack of confidence. After all, Donna Noble seemed headed for the life of being a permanent temp--if not a victim of an alien race. In her return in Season 4--the magnificent "Partners In Crime"--she's a much more aware person, investigating the strange and unusual, and pining for travelling with our favorite TimeLord. Certainly, the sequence where she finally sees The Doctor--when she's looking through the door window, and Ten is outside the building looking in--is just a magnificent mime between Tate and David Tennant, and Donna's commitment to join The Doctor in the TARDIS is delightful.
Thus begins Season 4, with an episode that gives a clue to the season's climax--as has been the habit in this run of the series. Tennant is, as he has been since inheriting the TARDIS, brilliant in capturing both the humor and the sadness of the Doctor. The guest turns--Freema Agyeman's three-episode return as a more confident and sharp Martha Jones; Georgia Moffett's adorable Jenny in "The Doctor's Daughter" (Hello, recurring character!!!), Alex Kingston's River Song--the woman who holds clues to The Doctor's future/past (Hello, second recurring character!!!) in "Silence In The Library" and "Forest Of The Dead"--has more than a few Doctor elements to her. But we cannot dismiss Bernard Cribbins' wonderful Wilfred Mott, Donna's grandfather who sees her as being more than a temp, sees her accomplish things beyond the imagination...but sadly, must keep the accomplishments hidden at the end of the year...
But Season 4--at least to me--is about the growth of Donna. She finds herself being able to help The Doctor in ways that she couldn't imagine, doing things that she couldn't believe (Clocking a Sontaran? Pretty good...)...yet, she also finds herself mystified as to why, when she wonders about the Doctor's future, there's no mention of her. Which brings us to the three-part smackdown that finishes the season--"Turn Left", "The Stolen Earth" and "Journey's End"; where the whole of The Family of Time--Rose and Jackie, Mickey Smith, Captain Jack Harkness, Martha, and even Penelope Wilton's Harriet Jones--all come back for one last smackdown with the Daleks. The turn of Donna into what the Ood had seen in "Planet Of The Ood"--the Doctor/Donna--is a hilarious-heroic sequence that fulfills the growth of Donna Noble in her run...but the last five minutes of the season just...breaks...your...heart. To realize that Donna has come that far...and to have it all taken away and her going back to who/what she was when she first was introduced...HURTS.
We will look back at Russell T. Davies four season run as the runner for this first chapter of Doctor Who and realize how he had modernized the character; made him relevant again--not just on his own, but also through "The Sarah Jane Adventures" and "Torchwood". But we will also think of Tennant approaching and at times surpassing the great Tom Baker's interpretation of the TimeLord. But Season 4 should be remembered for how RTD grew Donna to a great level--and then broke The Doctor's heart (Hearts) and ours in a brilliant and sad manner.
Highly recommended.
